As you probably know, Lights All Night is a rapidly growing EDM festival in Dallas, Texas. 2010 began the phenomenon that is LAN with a humbling crowd of 1,700 and three stages. The following year, the festival turned into a two-night venture and the crowd multiplied to approximately 20,000! And with impressive acts like Skrillex, Tiesto, and Bassnectar to name a few, it’s no wonder that LAN continues to grow with immense speed.

LAN is an experience like no other. Regardless of your taste in music, you cannot help but have a great time, vibe with the crowd, and peep at the eye candy around. Believe me when I say it is a sensory feast. Just as a quick example, before you even enter the stage area, you can feel the throbbing of the bass thru the walls… Seriously!!!

To no one’s surprise, Skrillex played a powerful set for his enthused fans to end off the first night at the Dallas Convention Center and continued the night with an after hours set at Lizard Lounge, the official LAN afters venue this year. The crowd was simply going off the wall during his main set, and was pretty chill for the afters creating a unique watch party at the lounge which was the perfect end to the first night.

Other major acts we were anticipating to see were Odesza, Disclosure, Boyz Noize, Zedd, Armin, Brazzabelle, 12th Planet, Paper Diamond, Seven Lions, Zed’s Dead, DJ Snake, Chromeo, Jayceooh, and of course Crizzly.

We were stoked to mingle with artists like Paper Diamond, 12th Planet, and Crizzly as well. Crizz thrilled the crowd with his lightshow, sick drops, and grimy remixes of classics like Lil Flip’s “This is the Way We Ball”, and his latest release “Certified Gz” feat. Slim Thug. He also just recently brought on our homie, Crichy Crich to be his “hype man” who debuted with him at Trapfest in Pharr, TX in mid November and he’s had no problem interacting with crowd to really give them a heightened sense of being involved with the show. They’re currently working on a few tracks together and just released one on Crizzly’s latest mix, CRUNKSTEP VOL. 3 “Booty by Crizzly”, which you can jam below.

On the second night, we headed to the The Deep End stage to support one of Austin’s own – MSCLS. We were first introduced to MSCLS when he would spin with our boy, Cade aka CBRadio, at RIO , a hot spot on West 6th in Austin with a rooftop pool that has previously hosted performances by Skrillex, The Stafford Brothers, and Tiesto to name a few. MSCLS’s creativity really shines as he meshes deep house music with a bit of nu-disco and just the right amount of vocals. I think it’s really easy for DJs to sound a bit repetitive or too much alike but MSCLS differentiates himself by creating his own sound and setting himself apart from other deep house producers. MSCLS has scored some solid spots at SXSW and EDC Las Vegas in previous years as well. If you haven’t heard of him already, we encourage you to follow this guy who is on a fast track to much bigger things!

Along with MSCLS, we were also there to support the other ATX DJs, GAMMA and MONETA, plus our Dallas native homie, ZANDER, and our SA-Town homies ZEKE&ZOID as well who all threw down sick sets at the Deep End and Turn Up stages.

We’ve been recently throwing support for these ATX locals at Crizzly’s LIFTED showcase that he’s hosted since December 15th at Nook Amphitheater on historic 6th, which is one of our home bases along with the 512 on 6th, and Bat Bar. Crizzly’s had guest appearances by MSCLS, GAMMA, MONETA, LOGUN, MARST, Silky Gold, and Allen Tagle thus far. Crizz’s LIFTED showcase has showed a lot of promise for this first month and from the current chatter we’ve heard on the streets, it’s not going to die down anytime soon!

Nothing captures the vibes like being at Lights All Night in person. I highly recommend not missing out on LAN next year! As much as I love a huge festival, to be there in the humble beginnings is an experience like no other that you will never forget. As it grows, those who were a part of it from the beginning will have the fondest and most genuine memories. See y’all next year! Can’t wait!!!
